Stripolis, mas­ter­mind­ed by Izar Lunaček and Janez Plešnar, is a month­ly gath­er­ing of car­toon­ists and comics aŒficionados held at Kino Šiška in Ljubljana. These meet­ings are intend­ed to pro­vide the oppor­tu­ni­ty for par­tic­i­pants to debate and receive feed­back on ongo­ing work, as well as to meet and pur­sue new col­lab­o­ra­tions. A Stripolis meet­ing takes place in three stages: it starts o’ with a pre­sen­ta­tion of a car­toon­ist from abroad, prefer­ably accom­pa­nied by an inter­view with the artist him­self via Skype; this intro­duc­tion also serves as the open­ing state­ment of a month-long exhi­bi­tion of the artist’s work. In the sec­ond part of the evening local artists can freely present their Œfin­ished or ongo­ing work, or calls for col­lab­o­ra­tions. A casu­al after-par­ty then brings the gath­er­ing to a close.
