Born in Ljubljana in 1962. Studied graph­ic design. Published his first com­ic, Who Killed the Comics Artist, in 1984. In 1990 took up the pseu­do­nym Ninel, in 1992 quit his job to work on comics full-time. He has pub­lished four­teen albums of dif­fer­ent gen­res and is part of the so-called third gen­er­a­tion of Slovenian car­toon­ists: their work is char­ac­ter­ized by taboo sub­jects, social and polit­i­cal satire, eroti­cism, etc. Sitar is also the fore­most Slovenian expert on the the­o­ry of com­ic books: in 2007 he pub­lished his lengthy study The History of Slovenian Comics.
